Inserting Hyperlinks With the Navigator

You can insert a cross-reference as a hyperlink in your document using the Navigator. You can even cross-reference items from other LibreOffice documents. If you click the hyperlink when the document is opened in LibreOffice, you are taken to the cross-referenced item.

  1. Open the document(s) containing the items you want to cross-reference. For example, Document A will receive a hyperlink to Document B.

  2. Open the Navigator from the View menu, Standard bar or Sidebar, or press F5.

  3. In the list at the bottom of the Navigator, select the document containing the item that you want to cross-reference. The navigator displays the objects of the cross-referenced document.

  4. In the Navigator list, click the plus sign next to the item that you want to insert as a hyperlink.

  5. Drag the item to where you want to insert the hyperlink in the document.

  6. When you drop the object at the desired position, a context menu appears, allowing you to choose an action for the dragged navigator object. If available, select Hyperlink.

The name of the item is inserted in the document as an underlined hyperlink. When the item is a heading, the heading text is inserted as an hyperlink.
